design

The design journey starts with a site-visit or zoom consultation. We go over any and all dreams, goals, and issues to begin finding the way to make your vision a reality. From there, we begin our concept phase. This is our time for back-and-forth as we lay out the geometry of our walls, develop systems and specifications that meet your goals, and start forecasting a budget. Our first pass is to take the “throw everything and the kitchen sink” approach as we present all available options, then let you strip back to prioritize what suites your needs.
Once we have final layout sign-off and a forecasted budget, we move on to Construction Documentation. This is where we take your dreams and our expertise and translate it into all necessary detailed building schematics. These schematics can range from room geometry and detailed framing plans, to sound reduction details with corresponding STC specifications and performance forecasting, to HVAC/mechanical and electrical design, to audio integration, elevation plans, acoustical specifications, and everything in between.
One nuanced offering NILES specializes in is the capacity to deliver a Dolby Certified ATMOS room. We incorporate ATMOS-specific tools from the very start of the project, partnering alongside industry titans to deliver these world-class, acoustically immersive environments. The demand of a 360-degree performance requires us to think outside the box of yesteryear acoustics and their studios. Room geometry, acoustical response, absorption co-efficiency, speaker placement and their relationship to boundaries, are all treated as an entirely different application from a stereo room to achieve a truly immersive experience.
We are also very familiar with partnering alongside architects who might be handling a larger portion of the structure to make sure our plans and details are aligned and organized for any and all sub-contractors to follow.
